In our homes, “Panjiri Laddu” holds a special significance during the auspicious festival of Janmashtami, which marks the birth of Lord Krishna.
This traditional sweet is lovingly prepared as a part of the bhog (offering) for the Lord Krishna. According to belief, Panjiri is one of Lord Krishna’s favorite, its wholesome ingredients symbolises nourishment, purity, and devotion.
The laddus are offered to the idol of baby Krishna during midnight puja, and later distributed as Prasad among family members and guests.
The preparation of Panjiri Laddu during Janmashtami is a cherished tradition passed through generations.
The aroma of roasting flour in ghee, the crunch of Gond (edible gum), dry fruits and the sweetness of Rock Sugar Powder (Mishri) create a festive atmosphere in the house.
