According to yoga guru Ramdeo baba, if you want to lead a healthy life, you must do yoga and consume aloe Vera juice. Now all worlds know about the significance of yoga and the wonder food aloe Vera. Here is a way to consume aloe Vera in the form of “Aloe Vera (Ghritkumari) raita” eat and enjoy.
Aloe Vera Raita is a refreshing and health-boosting variation of the classic Indian yogurt-based side dish. It is prepared by blending tender, de-bittered aloe vera pulp with creamy curd and lightly seasoning it with roasted cumin powder, black salt, green chilies, and fresh coriander. The cooling effect of yogurt balances the slightly tangy-bitter taste of aloe vera, resulting in a unique, wholesome, and digestive-friendly dish.
This raita is not just about taste but also about wellness. Aloe vera is well known for its medicinal properties; it aids digestion, detoxifies the body, and provides essential vitamins and antioxidants. When combined with probiotic-rich yogurt, it becomes a nourishing accompaniment that complements Parathas, Pulao, Biryani, or even simple Dal–Chawal.
Aloe Vera has the properties to Reduces Cholesterol, Regulates Blood Sugar, triglycerides for a healthy heart. It reduces constipation; it’s very good for right bowl movement too.
Aloe Vera contains protein, calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamin A& E and is naturally rich in vitamin C.
Ingredients:
- Aloe Vera: 1 leaf
- Curd (Yogurt): 1 cup
- Ginger: 1” piece
- Cumin seed (roasted powder): ½ teaspoon
- Salt: half teaspoon
- Kala namak: ¼ teaspoon
- Chilli powder: ¼ teaspoon (optional)
- Sugar: 1 teaspoon (optional)
- Pomegranate: 2 tablespoon
- Green coriander: 1 tablespoon
- Walnut: 4-5 no.
Preparation:
- Method to separate Aloe Vera pulp and cut in to small pieces:
- Cut Aloe Vera leaf into 4-5 inch long pieces.
- Leave it for 5- 10 minutes, the bitter yellow liquid will come out at the end.
- Discard thin layer from both end having yellow liquid.
- Cut longitudinally into 2-3 pieces. See photos given here.
- Peel off skin the aloe Vera as shown in photo. Aloe Vera pulp is ready.
- Cut aloe Vera pulp in small pieces. Keep aside.
- Cut ginger and walnut too. Keep aside.
Method:
- Take a mixing bowl; Put the curd, salt, cumin seed powder and sugar into the bowl.
- Mix them well, Add aloe Vera pieces, walnut, pomegranate and ginger, mix well and put into serving bowl.
- Now aloe Vera raita is ready to be served, this is the complete breakfast in the morning after yoga/exercise.
- You can serve this as side dish too.
