During Navratri Golu celebrations, Sweet Sundal the blend of jaggery, green cardamom, nutmeg and grated coconut, not only enhances the flavour but also brings a sense of joy and variety to the nine days of offerings.
Shared with family, friends, and visitors, this special Sundal beautifully combines tradition with a modern twist, symbolising abundance and auspiciousness to add a special charm to the daily Prasadam of Navratri, making each day unique and memorable.
Ingredients:
- Whole Mung: 1/2 cup
- Fresh Coconut (grated): 2 tablespoon
- Jaggery: 1/4 cup (as per taste)
- Ghee: 1 tablespoon
- Cardamom powder: 1/4 teaspoon
- Nutmeg Powder: 1 pinch
- Salt: 1 pinch (as per taste)
- Water: one cup
Preparation:
- Soak mung beans overnight; boil along with salt in rice cooker/ pressure cooker (just one whistle), strain water, Keep aside.
- Grate coconut , keep aside.
Method:
- In a pan melt jaggery along with ghee on low flame for 2-3 minutes or until jaggery melts.
- Add boiled mung; cook for couple of minutes on medium flame, add coconut (save some coconut for decoration), cardamom powder and nutmeg powder, continue to cook for a minute.
- Put off the flame decorate with more grated coconut.
