Raw banana pakora(raw banana fritters/bhajjis/pakodi)

Banana pakoda is very delicious, healthy and above all easy to prepare…This is authentic south Indian dish…

So, prepare and enjoy the recipe…

Ingredients:

  • Raw banana: 4 no. (Medium size)
  • Mustard oil /cooking oil: for frying
  • Garlic paste: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt: one teaspoon
  • Chilli powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Ajwain (carom seeds): half teaspoon
  • Kalongi (onion seed): ¼ spoons
  • Besan (gram flour): one cup
  • Water: one cup
  • Meetha soda (Soda-bi-carb): 1 pinch

Preparation:

  1. Peel off the skin of banana, and slice them longitudinally.
  2. Slice the banana into 3 mm-4 mm thin slices in a bowl filled with water and half teaspoon of salt.
  3. After 10-15 minutes, take out all slices from the water to a container. Keep aside.
  4. Take a bowl; Put Besan, salt, Kalongi, ajwain and Meetha soda, put water to make a smooth batter. Keep aside.

Method:

  1. Heat oil in  a fry-pan; let oil to smoke. Pour a drop of batter into the oil.
  2. If batter comes up, it means right temperature of oil otherwise wait for a while and test again.
  3. After getting right temperature of oil, dip banana slice into the batter. (Either helps of your hand or spoon)
  4. Deep fry all banana slices on medium flame, slowly they start to come up then only turn over the pakoda.
  5.  Fry till it becomes golden brown (about 6-7 minutes each batch).
  6. Now, mouth watering raw banana pakoda is ready to serve.
  7. Yummy Raw banana pakoda is ready for tea time or any time for children as well as adult.
