Adra Nakshatra Ki Thali (Bihari Thali)

Sipping my 2nd cup of tea, I again googled while enjoying the heavily rain outside from my balcony.

Yeah!!! I jumped with glee… is it “Adra Nakshatra”… it reminds me of the time when my parents use to celebrate. Adra comes and goes but memory remains.

In Bihar during the Adra; there is tradition to eat “Kheer (Rice Pudding)”, “Dal-Poori (Stuffed Lentil Bread)” and “Mango” along with some side dish as “Aaloo Parwal ki Sabji”, Mango Pickle, Salad etc.

Do you know what is Adra? It is the name  of Nakshatra in Hindu astrology; the entry of sun in Adra Nakshatra is considered auspices. In this year Nakshatra begins on June 22nd and ends on 5th of July.
