Serving:
Today morning my mother lovingly called me and reminded me, “Today onward begins Ardra Nakshatra” from 23 June to 3rd July, 2025.
She asked me, “Do prepare Kheer and Dal Poori for your family.” Her words instantly brought back my childhood memories of watching her preparing the traditional feast with devotion and care.
Taking her advice to my heart, I went to the kitchen and began preparing the festive dishes.
Though I gave a little twist this year; The Ardra Thali is a perfect blend of tradition and innovation.
Today’s Ardra Nakshatra Thali is beautifully crafted with blend of traditional flavour and festive warmth.
It includes a wholesome selection of dishes that reflect both heritage and creativity.
At the heart of the thali lies the comforting richness and traditional delicacies as highlighted/linked below…
The thali includes:
- Dal Poori
- Puran Poli
- Jawe seviyan kheer
- Aaloo Parwal ki Sabji
- Mushroom Masala
- Lychee Raita and
- Fruits (Mango & Lychee)
- I cooked Dal Poori by deep frying, while giving a festive twist with roasted Puran Poli.
- Sweet and nutty Jawe Seviyan Kheer was made with handmade seveiyan.
- To complement the meal, two flavourful Sabjis is added:
- 1. Aaloo Parwal Dum; a flavourful curry with round-cut potatoes and pointed gourd simmered in spices.
- 2. Mushroom Masala; I added a touch of richness with curd, which brought a delightful contrast to the tradition but very satisfying.
- To balance the meal a refreshing lychee raita brought a fruity and cooling twist.
- To make it complete juicy mango included, which is essential to any Ardra celebration.
This Ardra thali is not just a meal, it’s a celebration of taste, tradition, and togetherness.
The variety of dishes on the table creates a beautiful harmony of taste, tradition, and celebration, making the festival even more joyous for family.
