“Jur Sheetal (also known as Jud Sheetal) is not just a festival, but a way to connect with nature 🌱, on this day we pray to God that the coming year brings peace and coolness in our lives and in the environment.
It teaches us: to respect the environment, understand the importance of water and maintain balance with nature, to adopt a sustainable lifestyle to inspire future generations.
The word “Jur” means to join or a new beginning, and “Shital” means coolness. Since this time marks the beginning of intense summer.
It is a traditional festival celebrated in the Mithila region of Bihar and Nepal.
According to the Maithili calendar it is celebrated on the first day of the month of Baisakh.
On Jur Shital and the Maithili New Year. ✨
Wherever we live, may our roots always remain connected to Mithila!
Best Wishes 💚💧to all of you…
